For the past 2 weeks I witnessed in childlike wonder the total transformation in our garden. Seemingly dead branches of the Populus Simonaï burst into a soft green haze, bringing life and energy to this space. The sweet scent of the Jasmine also contributed to this feeling of wellbeing and the knowledge that Spring is indeed with us.

With this 13th Spring edition of FOREIGN Guide, I would like to welcome you in our beautiful diverse country. May your posting in South Africa be one of the most outstanding experiences ever.

With this publication we celebrate 11 years of service to the diplomatic community in Pretoria. From the humble beginnings as an information guide, our team constantly raised the bar of excellence. The magazine has evolved in a sought after publication, used by the embassies as part of their welcoming package, offering hospitality to newly arriving diplomats on South African soil.

FOREIGN Guide’s editorial content includes information on different subjects of interest to diplomats who will call South Africa their home for the next few years.

Articles range from what one can expect in this unique world within one country, to introducing far-flung and not so farflung destinations that are true escapes.
